Horticultural technician

Main responsibilities and tasks

Under the supervision of the foreman/woman, the horticultural technician is involved in the monitoring and maintenance of production and helps detect and treat anomalies. In addition, the horticultural technician must perform the following tasks:

  • Observe ambient conditions
  • Conduct daily watering and soil testing
  • Apply fertilizers and growth regulators as well as specific products
  • Collaborate in the basic maintenance of the company’s equipment and facilities (modern greenhouses and new technology equipment, robots, watering lines, injectors and filters)
  • Perform all other duties related to the position or requested by his/her superior

Required qualifications and working conditions

  • Passion for horticulture
  • Good physical condition
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Diploma of Vocational Studies in Horticulture (an asset)
  • One or more years’ experience in the field
  • Good analytical skills and attention to accuracy
  • Good organizational skills

  • Full-year, full-time work (40 hours or more per week)

Horticultural worker

Main responsibilities and tasks

Under the supervision of the team leader, the horticultural worker is responsible for carrying out the operations necessary in plant production, using methods that will improve the value of the plants. In addition, the horticultural worker must perform the following tasks:

  • During production, clean instruments and containers, and transport the equipment required
  • See to the cleanliness of the working areas
  • Transplant plants according to growth stage; multiply plants using cuttings, root division or layering; transport plant containers to other locations
  • Clean plants, remove early flowers, yellow leaves and other debris
  • Work with colleagues as required
  • For shipment, consult with supervisor or skilled worker or read delivery slip for plants to be prepared, select required plants, pack plants taking care to preserve their appearance and ensure their protection during transport
  • Perform other duties related to the position or requested by his/her superior

Class 1 and 3 driver

Main responsibilities and tasks

Under the supervision of the Director of Buildings/Production/Shipping, the driver delivers the ordered products according to the established location and schedule. In addition, the driver must perform the following tasks:

  • Ensure that the delivery truck is in good working order and that it is available when required. Ensure that the truck is kept clean inside and out, so that it reflects the quality image of the company
  • Collaborate in loading and unloading the truck
  • Keep a daily log of its activities
  • Participate in the preparation of orders and help with the packing required for the delivery
  • Check that the quality of the products is adequate and that the loading conforms to the customer’s order
  • Unload the trolleys at the customer’s location if necessary
  • Work closely with the sales and production department to facilitate the coordination of activities
  • Perform other duties related to the position or requested by his/her superior

Required qualifications and working conditions

  • At least one year’s experience in the field
  • Good sense of planning and organization
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Be mindful of fuel economy and time
  • Full-time seasonal work (40 hours or more per week)
  • Flexible hours

Horticultural team leader

Main responsibilities and tasks

Under the supervision of the foreman/woman, the horticultural team leader supervises a production team. In addition, the horticultural team leader must perform the following tasks:

  • Equitably assign tasks to workers under his/her supervision
  • Work closely with his/her foreman
  • Participate in production planning and monitoring
  • Perform other duties related to the position or requested by his/her superior

Required qualifications and working conditions

  • Passion for horticulture
  • Be dynamic, motivated, responsible and autonomous
  • Demonstrate initiative
  • At least three years’ experience in team management
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Have relevant training in plant knowledge, especially annuals
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Demonstrate high availability during the months of May and June
  • Diploma of Vocational Studies in Horticulture (an asset)
  • Good analytical skills and attention to accuracy
